The typical time required to install a new boiler

A new boiler installation typically takes 1-3 days. This can vary depending on whether the boiler is being relocated from one room to another, but a simple boiler installation should take one day.

The time it takes to install a new boiler is determined by a variety of factors, including the type of boiler you currently have, whether you want to switch to a different type, whether you want to relocate your boiler, and whether any additional work, such as installing entirely new pipes, is required.

In this guide, we'll look at how these factors can affect how long and how much it costs to install a new boiler, but first, let's go over what a standard boiler installation entails.

How Long Does a New Combi Boiler Installation Take?

4-6 Hours

The simplest and quickest installation procedure is to replace an old combi boiler in the same location with a new combi boiler. Assuming everything goes well, our boiler installer should be able to complete this task in a single day (4-6 hours).

The heating engineer will remove the old boiler, replace it, provide a free chemical flush (not to be confused with a "power flush"), and install a thermostat during this time.

They will clean up the debris and dispose of the old boiler as well as the new boiler packaging once the job is completed.

How long does it take to replace an existing system/regular boiler with a new combi boiler?

Up to two days

Because of the extra work required, such as removing the no longer needed water tank and any new plumbing, converting a regular or system boiler to a combi boiler will take longer than a like-for-like swap.

Additionally, your boiler installers must gain access to the heating system, which may necessitate lifting floorboards and performing any necessary repairs.

How Much Time Does It Take to Replace an Old Back Boiler with a New Combi Boiler?

Up to two days

Converting from a back boiler to a combi boiler can take up to two days due to the additional work required. First and foremost, you must relocate your boiler to another part of the house. This could be in a kitchen cupboard, an airing cupboard, a utility room, or somewhere else...

Second, all boilers must be equipped with a flue or other means of venting dangerous gases such as carbon monoxide. These gases are vented directly up a chimney by back boilers, but a combi boiler can vent in both horizontal and vertical directions. This means you'll need to install a new standard flue from the new location of the boiler.

All necessary work, including the removal of the back boiler, relocation of the new combi, and any repiping or flue work.

How Much Time Will It Take to Move My Boiler?

+ Half a Day

There are several reasons why someone might want to relocate their boiler. Many homeowners, for example, believe that keeping a boiler in their kitchen cabinet is a waste of valuable storage space. In such cases, customers may prefer to have their boiler relocated from their kitchen to the loft or an airing cupboard.

Due to the additional work required in transferring your boiler, such as repiping and installing a new flue, this can take up to a half day in addition to the time required to remove and install your old boiler. The further away you move the boiler from its original location, the more complicated the process becomes and, as a result, the longer it takes.
